NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Police report that Detectives are continuing to investigate a shooting that left an employee injured at BAE Systems late Saturday evening.
Around 11:20 p.m., police were dispatched to 750 W. Berkley Avenue for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they located a man who was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is expected to recover.
This shooting is being investigated as an isolated incident, and the preliminary investigation has revealed that the man was working on the top deck of a ship when he was shot in the back. The man told police that he heard what he believed to be fireworks coming from the City of Portsmouth at the time that he was injured.
