JOSH GUY: Schools need to end the tolerance of repeat violent offenders remaining in classrooms

From the Facebook Page of Josh Guy for School Board:
We had 500 suspensions at Spring Ridge Middle School last year. We had 159 suspensions at Margaret Brent Middle School last year. We had 185 suspensions at Chopticon High School last year. Over 50% of these suspensions were due to violent fights.

Students are unable to learn. Teachers are unable to teach. Parents are worried about violent incidents in their child’s classroom. We need to do better. Many of these students that are suspended, are suspended multiple times. I believe that it is imperative to keep our students and teachers safe inside the classroom. We need to look at alternative school programs for students who cannot be safely returned to the classroom. Other counties have implemented alternative school programs to keep their classrooms safe. It’s time for St. Mary’s to do the same.
