MONTGOMERY COUNTY POLICE BEAT Great Video! A thief who stole a wallet from victim was hit by a car as he fled

 

Montgomery County Police seek Suspect who robbed a Ride On bus passenger ran into traffic and was hit by a car April 20, 2018.

ROCKVILLE, MD. – Justice was swift for a man that police say stole a wallet from another rider on a bus as the man was being chased, he ran into traffic and was promptly hit by a Subaru. The man flipped over the car with his justly delivered blow, making him a temporary hood ornament and then got to his feet and continued to flee.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 1st District Investigative Section continue to investigate the April 13 robbery that occurred on a Ride On Bus in Rockville.

Police report that at approximately 2;23 p.m., the suspect, and the 34-year-old male victim were sitting next to each other in the back of a Ride On bus which was traveling westbound on East Gude Drive approaching Taft Street in Rockville.  During the ride, the suspect stole the victim’s wallet.  The victim discovered the theft, attempted to get his wallet back, and struggled with the suspect over the wallet.

The suspect fled across the westbound lanes of East Gude Drive and was struck by a green colored Subaru SUV. 

Due to the struggle occurring on the bus, the Ride On bus driver stopped the bus at the intersection of East Gude Drive and Taft Street.  Once the bus had stopped, the suspect fled from the bus and the victim pursued him.  The suspect fled across the westbound lanes of East Gude Drive and was struck by a green colored Subaru SUV.  After being struck, the suspect continued to flee from the area.  The driver of the Subaru paused but then continued down the roadway, failing to remain on the scene of the collision.

Police released video of the robbery and video of the collision involving the robbery suspect and Subaru and are asking for the public’s help to identify both the robbery suspect and vehicle driver.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or who has information about this robbery, the green Subaru, or the driver of the green Subaru, is urged to contact the 1st District Investigative Section at 240-773-6084.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
