SCHOOL THREAT: Mechanicsville Elementary target of an online threat of shooting

According to St. Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron, a new threat of shooting at a St. Mary’s County public school has taken place, with this newest threat coming from a sicko online that made the threat in the midst of a gaming session.

Cameron says that on Saturday, June 2, 2018, a juvenile playing on an online gaming console received a threat from an unidentified user against Mechanicsville Elementary School. The juvenile and another witness, both students at Mechanicsville Elementary School, were playing on an online gaming console. An unidentified user entered the game and learned that the juveniles live in St. Mary’s County and attend Mechanicsville Elementary School. The unidentified user then threatened to shoot those at Mechanicsville Elementary School.

The juvenile reported the threat to his parents, who notified the gaming console company. On Monday, the threat was reported to the St. Mary’s County Public School System which also notified the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department. The threat remains under investigation by both agencies.
