MURDER USA: MS-13 gang slaying targeted Hector Diaz-Urrutia; Jose Landaverde charged with homicide
BERWYN HEIGHTS, MD. – The gang just got a bit smaller with another MS-13 gang slaying and an arrest.
Prince George’s County Police report that their Homicide Unit detectives arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation from March. The suspect is 22-year-old Jose Landaverde of Greenbelt. He is charged with the murder of 22-year-old Hector Diaz-Urrutia of no fixed address.
On March 14th, at approximately 1:30 pm, a citizen walking near Lake Artemesia in Berwyn Heights notified police after discovering a body. The victim was located suffering from trauma to his upper body and pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation reveals both the suspect and victim are members of a gang. The motive in the murder is gang-related.
Landaverde is charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
