MURDER USA: Tysheen Maxwell didn’t get far enough away after being implicated in the homicide of Thomas Gilbert
DOVER DEL. – After being nabbed by U.S. Marshals in Newport News, Virginia, a Delaware man will be extradited to Dover to face first-degree murder charges.
The Dover Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman reports that the agency is announcing the arrest of Tysheen Maxwell, 25, in connection with the July 6th murder of Thomas Gilbert.
Maxwell was developed as a suspect during the investigation and was apprehended on July 24th, 2020 in Newport News, Virginia by the United States Marshals Service without incident. Maxwell remains in custody pending extradition back to Delaware on the following charges:
- –Murder 1st Degree
- -Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony
Police say that the shooting death of a 32-year-old man that occurred on July 6, 2020, at 2:48 am. Officers responded to a vacant lot in the 100 Block of S. New Street for a report of shots fired. Arriving officers located Thomas Gilbert, who was struck multiple times by gunfire. Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. Gilbert is from the Dover area.
Virginia Court records show Maxwell as being held in jail pending a hearing on August 24, 2020, in Newport News Criminal District Court following his arrest on a fugitive warrant on July 24, 2020.
