FROM BLACKSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT: Jamel D. Flint has been taken into custody in Roanoke Virginia without incident. We would like to thank the community for their assistance along with the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, Virginia Tech Police Department, Virginia Tech Rescue Squad, Christiansburg Police Department, Virginia State Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the New River Valley 911 Center, the FBI, and the US Marshals Service who took Flint into custody. This was truly a group effort to restore safety and security to the Blacksburg community.

The Blacksburg Police Department has obtained six felony warrants for 24-year-old Jamel D. Flint of Roanoke, Virginia.

These include; Murder in the First Degree for the homicide of 18-year-old Isiah O. Robinson of Roanoke, Virginia

Four counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, and one count of Use of a Firearm while committing or attempting to commit Murder for the remaining four victims.

Dear Members of the Virginia Tech community,

Shortly before midnight last night, Blacksburg Police responded to a report of shots fired at the Melody Hookah Lounge in downtown Blacksburg. The Blacksburg Police Department has released a statement that one person was killed; four others were injured, one of whom was a Virginia Tech student. At this time, the names of the victims have not been released. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased and we extend our support to those who were injured.

Events like this are difficult and unsettling to all of us. Please care for yourself and seek assistance if you need it. Campus resources are listed below. Our community is strong, and our strength is derived from our genuine care and concern for one another.

Blacksburg Police are leading this ongoing investigation and we are assisting. FROM BLACKSBURG POLICE: This incident continues to be a complex, ongoing case that has shifted to a homicide investigation. There were five individuals that were injured in the shooting, four were transported to local hospitals and one is deceased. The severity of the injuries of those who were transported is unknown at this time

BLACKSBURG POLICE REPORT:

On Friday, February 04, 2022, at 11:53 pm, the Blacksburg Police responded to the report of shots fired at the located at 109 N Main St in downtown Blacksburg.

Multiple individuals were transported from the scene to local hospitals. Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting in the area and following up on leads.
