DELAWARE STATE POLICE BEAT: Christopher Lare charged with assault and threats with gun
LEWES, DEL. – The Delaware State Police report that they have arrested a Lewes man after he threatened his girlfriend with a handgun during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred on February 16, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 32000 block of Spruce Court, Angola by the Bay, for a report of a physical domestic involving a weapon. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with 28-year-old Christopher B. Lare who was standing inside at the front door. Lare was taken into custody without incident and found in possession of a Glock magazine containing 2 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Police say that Lare and his 32-year-old girlfriend engaged in an altercation in which Lare physically assaulted her.
Allegedly, Lare then proceeded to grab the victim’s loaded Glock 43 semi-automatic handgun which she keeps in the residence and threatened her with the weapon.
Before the arrival of the police, Lare allegedly removed the magazine from the handgun and proceeded to unload the rounds. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of this incident and declined medical treatment at the scene.
Lare was transported back to Troop 7 where he was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited Prior Violent Crime or Felony (2 counts)
- Strangulation
- Aggravated Menacing
Lare was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $13,000.00 secured bond.
