DATING DOCTOR DEADLY: Fairfax Police charge Army Doc with Rape, Assault, Abduction; indictments allege multiple rape attacks resulted from online romance apps
SPRINGFIELD, VA. – The Wuhan Wahoo of Fairfax Virginia title for 2020 should definitely go to a United States Army physician who is charged with serious felonies of rape, assault, and abduction.
Fairfax County Police report that a 58-year-old man is facing charges for sexually assaulting two women last summer. Detectives were contacted in July 2020 by a woman who reported she was assaulted at a home in the 8300 block of Cushing Court in Springfield by a man she met online. Approximately a month later, as detectives continued their investigation, a second victim reported being sexually assaulted at the same location under similar circumstances.
Detectives identified Drew John Steiner, of Springfield, as the offender in both cases. On April 19, 2021,, evidence was presented to a grand jury who indicted Steiner on one count of rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of unlawful filming, two counts of abduction with intent to defile, and two counts of object sexual penetration. Steiner has been held without bond at the adult detention center since being charged with the assault and abduction of a family member that occurred on Sept. 27, 2020.
Police believe that other victims may have not reported being raped. Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure that the victims are receiving appropriate resources and assistance.

Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano provided this statement about the Steiner indictment:
“My top priority is to keep our community safe. I will therefore always act to hold those accountable who prey upon members of this community and I am hopeful that this indictment will serve as a first step toward justice in this case.
“Roughly between the dates of July 7, 2020 and August 18, 2020, Drew John Steiner is alleged to have raped multiple individuals, at least one of whom he met through a dating application, and knowingly and intentionally filmed without consent of the victim.
“Upon reviewing the investigation into this matter, I determined that charges of rape, abduction and unlawful videotaping were merited, and a Grand Jury agreed. Today I am a therefore announcing the indictment of Drew John Steiner on these charges.”
Alcohol Problem Resulted in DUI in North Carolina; Suspension of Medical License in N.C. and Pennsylvania
The North Carolina Medical Board currently lists Drew John Steiner with a license of Medical Doctor type, License # 990479, located at Fort Belvoir, Va., and on inactive status.
The Pennsylvania State Medical Board, upon the July 30, 2007 consent order of the North Carolina State Medical Board finding Steiner guilty of driving while impaired in December of 2006, and suspending his license, noted that Steiner had been licensed as a surgeon and doctor in Pennsylvania since October 1, 1991; issued a consent agreement and order. The order acknowledged that Steiner has been suspended from practice in North Carolina. Steiner had a last known address of 134 Argonne Street, Elkin, North Carolina. The Board agreement in Pennsylvania noted that Steiner had voluntarily surrendered his medical license on January 10, 2007, and had failed to report the disciplinary action in another state to the Pennsylvania board. Therefore, Pennsylvania ordered that his license was voluntarily and permanently surrendered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
