MURDER USA: Accused killer Philip Nguyen gave dear old Dad a backyard burial to save on funeral costs and avoid homicide charges

FALLS CHURCH, VA.  – Who wants to pay funeral homes a bunch of money when it is just a lot easier to bury dear old dad at home. Those flowers that set of sneezing, the funeral music that is so depressing and all of those mourners moping around hoping to get a free meal – all of the trappings can be avoided when one kicks off and is planted in the garden.

On Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, police reports that a wife reported that her husband, Truman Nguyen, 78, of Falls Church had been missing since the previous day. At the time of the report, officers searched the residence and backyard. Officers found no signs of foul play or anything to indicate Truman Nguyen was in danger.

Detectives found evidence to indicate Philip Nguyen burnt the body prior to burying his father in the backyard.

The officers apparently didn’t notice the freshly dug grave, heck, it could have been a groundhog hole, or maybe it was covered with leaves. Who would expect a K-9 dog to be brought out to look for a missing person?

FINALLY THE SLEUTHS TOOK OVER FROM THE FLATFOOTS

Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau Missing Persons Squad took over the investigation on Tuesday, and received information that the circumstances of Truman Nguyen’s disappearance may involve foul play.

Police say that they quickly contacted Truman Nguyen’s son, Philip, who resides at the home with the family. Based on information from multiple sources, detectives believed Truman Nguyen could be deceased and buried in the family’s backyard.

On Wednesday afternoon, detectives searched the property and found Truman Nguyen’s body. An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who confirmed the identity of the deceased.

Through the results from the autopsy, detectives believe that the cause of Truman Nguyen’s death was from multiple stab wounds to the upper body. Detectives found evidence to indicate Philip Nguyen burnt the body prior to burying his father in the backyard.

His son, Philip Nguyen has been charged with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Adult Detention Center without bond.

This is being investigated as the 18th homicide year to date in Fairfax County. Detectives have made 13 arrests related to the 17 homicides.

In 2020, there were 6 homicides year to date.
