ELECTION 2022: EARLY VOTING TURNOUT A NO-SHOW AS CANDIDATES GATHER AT POLLS

ELECTION 2022 EARLY VOTING TURNOUT A NO-SHOW AS CANDIDATES GATHER AT POLLS

  • The early voting center at Mechanicsville firehouse included supporters of Jaymi Sterling and Roy Buckler at right, campaigning for Clerk of the Circuit Court Debbie Burch.

MECHANICSVILLE, MD. – The signs were spread out across three early voting centers making the sign makers wealthier than ever before as St. Mary’s County opened two other polling places. Before 2022, the sole early voting center was located at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department.

The taxpayers now fund three such centers, with new ones at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department firehouse and another at Mechanicsville firehouse. Instead of one set of election judges and clerks to supervise the voting of the trickle of voters on Thursday, July 7, 2022, the effort is triplicated.

For those who have been matriculated through school systems that graduate students without basic math skills, that is a whole lot more than the cost of one early voting center.
