MURDER AT SEA GULL COURT

NORTH BEACH, MD.  – The usually tranquil community of Burnt Oak townhomes was lit up with blue and red lights as emergency personnel responded shortly after 9 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, for the report of a shooting and found a man dead on the scene. Efforts to revive the victim, William Lee Hutcherson, were not successful.

After interviewing witnesses, who told investigators from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Department that the shooting took place as two men argued in the parking lot, Anthony Wayne Simpson Jr, 40 (DOB 05/29/1984) of 1109 Dickson Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia, was arrested by Calvert Sheriff Deputy M. Mudd, and later charged with first-degree murder. Additional charges of second-degree murder and first and second-degree assault also were placed against Simpson.

Simpson has a record of being an all-around badass, having been found guilty of assault on a law enforcement officer in Fredericksburg District court on April 27, 2023, and sentenced to the Hoosegow for one year.  Simpson was found guilty of whopping up a family member and brandishing a firearm during an assault in Culpeper Circuit Court in Virginia on May 16, 2016, and picked up a year in the slammer on that conviction.
