Righting the Leftist-Loaded Ship of Calvert Schools with New Members of Board of Education

Significant changes are happening in Calvert County, and the people love it! The new conservative majority on the Board of Education, backed by the incredible 1776 Project PAC, is stepping up hugely. These innovative, strong leaders deliver precisely what they promised—accountability, transparency, and a commitment to putting parents and students first. It’s a beautiful thing to see!

At their first major meeting, the board didn’t waste any time. They unanimously voted to move future meetings to 6 PM, making it much easier for parents, teachers, and the hardworking public to attend. This is a simple change but a very important one. The public deserves a voice in their schools, and this board is making sure they get it.

The board voted to revise the policy on weapons in school buildings. Under the old leadership, information about weapons-related incidents was swept under the rug and handled quietly by safety officers without law enforcement involvement. But this new board said, “Enough!” Those incidents will be public, and law enforcement will be involved where it matters most. This is about keeping kids safe and ensuring no one is above the law with smart, decisive decisions.

It’s not just about safety. It’s about mental health. For too long, students struggling with depression, rage, and even suicidal thoughts were ignored. They weren’t getting the help they needed. This new board is shining a big, bright light on these issues. They’re saying, “Let’s take care of these kids. Let’s get them the help they deserve.” It’s a game-changer.

Of course, not everyone is thrilled. The current superintendent, Dr. Andraé Townsel, sat there like a statue. No energy, enthusiasm, or engagement just sitting there, looking distant and disjointed at times. He looked like he’d rather be anywhere else. A leader should be excited about positive change, but this guy. He couldn’t even fake it. People noticed.

But the people in the room—the parents, the community—they were inspired. Thomas Isaacson, a local leader, summed it up perfectly: “I’d like to extend a huge congratulations to our new school board. So many people are excited about your service and desire to chart a course correction for our school system. Thanks to everyone who spoke, including the beautiful prayer for our children and board. This was such an uplifting meeting today.”

The comments from the public were powerful, too. Parents shared their stories about safety concerns, mental health struggles, and how much they appreciate the board’s bold decisions. One mother got emotional as she thanked the board for finally addressing issues that had been ignored for years. “This is what we needed,” she said. “This is what our kids needed.”

This board is delivering accurate results. But let’s be honest, there’s a long road ahead. With the superintendent looking so out of touch, will he support or fight these changes? That’s the big question. But knowing this board, they’re not going to back down. They’re fighters. They’re winners. And they’re doing what’s right for the students, parents, and teachers of Calvert County.

The bottom line is the Calvert County Board of Education is making schools great again. Strong policies, tough decisions, and a commitment to the people. It’s a beautiful thing to see, and it’s just the beginning. Tremendous things are ahead for Calvert County!
