SOUTHERN MD. POLICE BEAT: St. Mary’s Jail Employee Tammy Hill Busted for Supplying Drugs to Inmates

LEONARDTOWN, MD. – There is a proud tradition in Maryland of corruption among a small but persistent minority of prison and jail employees providing drugs, sex and even cell phones for use in cells. This story is another one of those sagas.

St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron says that in May of 2019, detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division became aware of the alleged Hoosegow Drug Dealing Scheme, and began an investigation into allegations a contract Aramark employee, who worked in the kitchen at the St. Mary’s County Jail, was bringing contraband into the facility.

On June 11, 2019, Hill was served a criminal summons by Detective Michael Labanowski, instead of being arrested and jailed, and charged with six counts of Possess Contraband-Place of Confinement. Hill will be looking for a good attorney to make a plea bargain for her court date of August 2, 2019, in Leonardtown District Court. Hill picked up a nice plea bargain in 2016 for driving while suspended when the charge was put on the Stet Docket.

Do you want pills and butts with those mashed potatoes?

Since jail inmates are allowed to work in jail kitchens if convicted, will Hill be allowed to continue her job working in the Hotel St. Mary’s on work release, working in the jail? Only The Shadow knows.
