BALTIMORE, MD – On July 12, 2023, the Baltimore Police Department released the body-worn camera footage and citizen video of the fatal police-involved shooting that occurred on June 29, 2023, in Baltimore. The release of the body-worn camera footage is in accordance with the memorandum of understanding between the Independent Investigations Division and the Baltimore Police Department for officer-involved death investigations.

The decedent was identified as 40-year-old Darryl Gamble of Baltimore.
Independent Investigations Division Investigating Fatal OfficerInvolved Shooting in Baltimore City
BALTIMORE, MD (June 30, 2023) – The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in Baltimore City Thursday evening. On June 29, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Baltimore Police Department exchanged gunfire with a man in the 100 block of N. Milton Avenue. The man fired multiple rounds, and multiple officers discharged their firearms. The man was wounded and pronounced dead on the scene.
No officers were injured. One handgun with an extended magazine and one shortbarreled rifle were recovered near the man at the scene.
The Independent Investigations Division will generally release the name of the decedent and discharging officer within 48 hours of the incident, though that period may be extended if there is a specific reason to believe that an officer’s safety is at risk. There were officer body-worn cameras that were activated during this incident.
The video was released in accordance with Baltimore Police Department and Independent Investigations Division policies.

DARRYL GAMBLE SHOT DEAD AFTER FIRING DOZENS OF ROUNDS AT POLICE OFFICERS: HAD LONG CRIMINAL RECORD
Darryl Derrel Gamble (DOB 04/02/1983) of 4117 Brendan Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, was issued an arrest warrant on March 1, 2018, and committed to the Baltimore City Jail on August 16, 2018, pending trial in Circuit Court.
Darryl Gamble was sentenced to five years in prison on October 7, 2013, in Baltimore City Circuit Court when he entered a plea of guilty to a charge of being in possession of a firearm with a felony conviction.
Darryl Gamble entered guilty pleas to use of a handgun when committing a violent crime and attempted first-degree murder on April 25, 2001, in Baltimore City Circuit Court. Gamble was sentenced to 15 years on the attempted murder charge and five years on the handgun conviction.
